Walter G. Langbecker

Walter G. Langbecker, 95, of Janesville passed away at his home on Thursday, January 24, 2013 with his loving wife of 74 years, Lucy  by his side. Walter was born at Alma, WI on February 23, 1917, one of 17 children of Ferdinand and Martha (Brandt) Langbecker. He married Lucy P. Arquette on September 24, 1938 in Milwaukee. Walter was employed as a construction worker for various construction companies including T.S. Willis and J. P. Cullen in Janesville. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He formerly sang with the Janesville-Beloit Symphony Orchestra, the Janesville Choral Union and the Blackhawk Choral from the Wisconsin Synod of Lutheran Churches in this area.
Surviving are his wife, Lucy, four sons, Wayne of Arnold, Missouri, Gary (Paulette) of McComb, Mississippi, Lee of Delavan, Jacques of Fairfield, Texas, 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his 16 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 709 Milton Avenue, Janesville with funeral services to follow at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Pastor Jim Janke will officiate. Private entombment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
